In 1984, our club was born from the collective dedication of six visionaries:
Their shared goal was to create a supportive community for those affected by stroke in Wrexham. They aimed to provide peer support and organise social activities for stroke survivors.
Their hard work established the club, ensuring its continuity for four decades. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude, and we strive to honour their legacy by carrying forward their mission.
For the first thirty-six years, the club thrived at the Cunliffe Centre in Rhosddu, holding evening meetings. However, the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted our routines. During the seemingly endless lockdown, we maintained contact with members through newsletters. Eventually, we resumed with lunchtime meetings at the Ramada Plaza in Wrexham.
To accommodate member preferences, we surveyed whether they preferred afternoon or evening meetings. The consensus was for afternoon sessions, prompting us to seek an alternative venue since the Cunliffe Centre was unavailable during afternoons.
Now, we gather twice a month at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Garden Village, Wrexham. Our activities include guest speakers, quizzes, games, outings, parties, and weekend breaks.
